Episode 49. Remote White Cane Day Activities

My friends, we are finally entering my second favorite month of the year because it is the month of Blindness Awareness and White Cane Day! It is a month to explore and celebrate what it means to be a person with a visual impairment, to let them see themselves what we see in them. But you’re probably wondering, how are we supposed to help our students in this current situation, where most of their classmates are probably new to them and they might be feeling more isolated than ever?

Well, in this week’s podcast, you will get some ideas on the types of activities that you can do in order to encourage your students to share and get to know each other better and letting them feel independent and successful as someone they’re capable of being. And yes, these activities can be done remotely, but for people out there who are back to teaching in person, don’t worry. You’re not missing out. These activities can also be done in-person with your students, to celebrate White Cane Day together.

Can’t wait to use the ideas to celebrate with your students? Tune in to find out!
