Episode 60. Innovative Way to Create Tactile Maps using TMAP Software with Greg Kehret
Do you have those moments where you had to create a tactile map or multiple tactile maps for your students? But you just don’t have the time to go and get the materials needed and also to create it from scratch. Especially having to make sure that the lines are perfect, that each street should be exactly the same as it is. What if I told you that you don’t have to do that anymore?
My friends, in this week’s podcast, we are joined by Greg Kehret who’s going to show us an innovative way to create tactile maps using a software called TMAP. Greg is the director of the Media and Accessible Design Lab of San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind (The MAD Lab). He got into this field because his best friend was blind. So now he makes sure that visual information could be as accessible as possible.
In this podcast, Greg will be sharing what exactly TMAP does and how it can benefit the O&M and VI Specialists when it comes to helping their students access new areas. You will also get to hear about how TMAP works, what are the hurdles when using TMAP, as well as how you can get your hands on it. This episode is so full of information for you to get to know TMAP software and how you can utilise it as much as you can in you and your students’ lives.
